As we know, the Corona virus or COVID-19 has shaken the world. Merely yesterday, the WHO or World Health Organization declared the novel Corona virus as a pandemic. A matter of global concern, some bad actors are trying to benefit from this situation, as they always do. While this is disgraceful and shameful at the same time, we need to be even more aware and alert.
Online scams are widespread with fake Corona virus live maps and applications making an appearance on the Play and App Store, respectively. After several objections, Google took an extreme step by initiating a blanket ban on search terms COVID-19 and Corona virus. It will protect and secure innocent folks from trying bogus products and methods that do more harm and good.
Such applications are dangerous because most of them are spreading false news, information, and propaganda that is not only inappropriate but also dangerous. People are anguished right now, looking for techniques to protect or save themselves from catching the horrible Corona virus. At Technedo, we went through all the sources to find official, the government released or approved, Corona virus live maps and applications. Let’s begin.
1. World Health Organization (WHO):
WHO is tracking the entire world when it comes to Corona virus, which they currently announced to be a pandemic. You will find all up-to-date info on their dedicated page.
The WHO’s live Corona virus Live maps will display you all countries which are hit by the epidemic and the number of cases that have been reported and confirmed so far. You can zoom in and out quickly as the map looks a little bit mess up.WHO Live Maps
2. Corona virus Live Maps:
The New York Times is a well-respected source and has been for decades. The New York Times have created a live map for the USA, from where you can easily see all the places where causes have been reported. The map is being updated daily, as is evident from the timestamp. The size of the red circle relies on the number of folks who’ve tested positive, and these circles have been drawn based on county.
The Telegraph is the other reputable source of journalism and news but in the UK. Rather than focusing on their home country alone, they went ahead and created a Corona virus live maps. The live Corona virus live map is interactive. You can select to watch the total number of infections, recoveries, and deaths.
Live Sciences has also been keeping records on the spread of the novel COVID-19 on their regularly updated page. It provides you a breakdown of all the cases of the fatal virus reported across all states of America.
The map has been prepared with data gathered from reputable sources such as WHO, CDC, and more.
3. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC):
CDC is a government site and probably the most trustworthy source on all matters regarding the Corona virus or COVID-19. The link will take you to their global live map, which indicates areas infected with the virus but does not share numbers. Then why link to it in this article? Because you will find ample other essential and necessary information such as the current news, how the virus spreads, what the government is doing to stop the further spread, feasible ways to cure it, and much more.
You’ll find links in the sidebar that will take you deeper where you’ll find live Corona virus maps for different states of America with real-time updated information on infections and whatnot. I would suggest you begin with the What You Should Know section where you’ll find info on how the virus spreads, helpline numbers, symptoms, and much more. There are other sections worth exploring, such as traveling (national and international), departments and labs, and the population at higher risks, and then a few more.
4. COVID Visualizer:
Gabriel Rasskin and Navid Mamoon, students at Carnegie Mellon University, Develop another interactive representation of the current COVID-19 numbers in the universe. Unlike others, this site gives a Google Earth-like feel and mimics the earth’s rotation as you let the globe sit idle.
The site is simple; to check the COVID-19 toll, all you have to do is click on the specific country. It will give you a small pop-up containing, number of patients, total number of recoveries, and the death toll, along with new cases added on the present day. Additionally, you will also see a count at the bottom of the screen. The data is gathered from Worldometers and is updated daily. I recommend bookmarking it for constant updates.COVID Visualizer COVID-19 Live Maps
5. Corona virus Outbreak
Both Android and iOS have stringent app policies regarding COVID-19. Although many websites assist you in gathering information about the outbreak and its preventive measures, the number of apps hardly touch double digits. In terms of a live dashboard application, you have this one open-source app for Android called Corona virus Outbreak. The application is not obtainable on the Play store and has to be downloaded from GitHub.
The application is available on GitHub and has an open-source data repository maintained by JHU-CSSE.
Although the app is legit, and it collects data from an open-source data repository. It is maintained by (JHU CSSE) Johns Hopkins University Center for Systems Science and Engineering. The app shows a worldwide infection map and also local infection data based on your location.
Corona virus Live Maps and Apps:
I want to stress the reality that you should also stay away from information being shared on social media sites such as Twitter and Facebook. The same also goes through messaging apps such as WhatsApp, Messenger, Telegram, among others. People are trying to take advantage of this situation by selling rumors, fear-mongering, and spreading lies to sell make-shift products that do not even work.
There’s no official cure or vaccine for Corona virus that is known to work. So do not try anything without consulting your doctor first. Self-quarantine is the perfect way to avoid this disease. Be vigilant, and stay safe.
